FOUN 098 46: What Ails Thee?: Getting Started

Start Searching

Google and Wikipedia are good places to start getting to know your topic. For more scholarly sources, see the database collections below, which cover a broad range of topics across disciplines (not subject-specific content).

Keyword Searching

Keyword Searching Tips:

  • Pull key words and phrases from your topic idea or statement (or your 6-word essay...see your final paper assignment)
  • Look for key words and phrases in your course readings
  • Use concepts that appear in article abstracts
  • Find keywords in subject headings in WorldCat and journal articles

As you read about your topic and refine your idea, you may need to modify your search terms/keywords
