Considering Bias

Instructions for in-class activity:

Using the source assigned to your group, discuss the following questions and be prepared to share your answers with the class (note that for this activity you do not need to read the article):

  1. Who is the author? What can you find out about them?
  2. Who is the sponsoring body? What can you find out about them?
  3. How might your answers to questions 1 and/or 2 impact your thoughts about whether there is a bias in the source?
  4. What could you do to counter or mitigate that bias in your research?
