Rare Books Collection

SCUA holds nearly six thousand rare books and reference works, ranging in format and age from cuneiform tablets, illuminated manuscript leaves, and incunables to private press works and modern first editions.  We have particular depth in Irish literature, and a
robust collection of books-about-books. Some of our high spots include a Kelmscott Chaucer, a Shakespeare Second Folio, Gould's The Birds of Europe, Roberts's The Holy Land, Diderot's Encyclopédie, and a first printing of On the Origin of Species.

Items in the collection may be found by searching the Library's catalog. Please get in
touch at scua@bucknell.edu to discuss our collection in more detail.
