Grey Literature
Grey literature is information produced outside traditional academic or commercial publishing avenues. It exists in a variety of formats, including blogs, government websites and reports, interviews, newsletters, dissertations, statistical reports, white papers, and so on.
NGO Search
NGO Search is a custom Google search that searches across thousands of non-governmental organizations (NGO). NGO Search is project of the Government Documents Roundtable (GODORT) of the American Library Association (ALA).
Google Advanced Search
Use Google's advanced search functions to find grey literature.
Try the site limiter to search within specific domains. For example, search site: .gov with a keyword to locate grey literature on government websites.
Use the file type limiter to search for certain file formats, like .pdf or .xlsx. For example, search filetype: .pdf with a keyword to locate reports and other sources published as PDFs.
Scholarly Databases
- AnthroSource This link opens in a new windowOffering both current issues and the historical archives of the journals, newsletters and bulletins from the American Anthropological Association, AnthroSource provides access to more than a century of full-text anthropological knowledge, across the breadth and depth of the discipline.
- Sociological Abstracts This link opens in a new windowOne of the most comprehensive databases in the social sciences, Sociological Abstracts includes coverage of fields including anthropology, economics, education, medicine, community development, philosophy, demography, political science, and social psychology. Includes abstracts of journal articles, conference papers, dissertations, books, and book reviews.
- Research Library This link opens in a new windowCitations of newspaper and periodical articles covering a broad range of subjects, including arts, business, humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
- Google Scholar This link opens in a new windowGoogle Scholar searches for scholarly materials in journals, books, and other sources. Will also display Bucknell's full-text access if Library Link is enabled.
- Gale in Context: Environmental Studies This link opens in a new windowGale in Context: Environmental Studies (formerly GreenR) is an interdisciplinary resource that offers wide ranging and discussion of issues related to the environment, sustainability, and green technologies. Gale in Context: Environmental Studies is an interactive tool, allowing users to navigate by issue, organization and country portals, with access to popular and primary literature, websites, organizations, podcasts, and video.
- GreenFILE This link opens in a new windowGreenFILE is a research database focusing on the relationship between human beings and the environment, with well-researched but accessible information on topics ranging from global warming to recycling to alternate fuel sources and beyond. Comprised of scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents and reports, GreenFILE offers a unique perspective on the positive and negative ways humans affect the environment.
- GenderWatch This link opens in a new windowA full text database of periodicals, books, conference proceedings, and other publications that focus on how gender impacts a broad spectrum of subject areas. Coverage spans 1970 to the present.
