Disability Services and Accessibility

Welcome to Bertrand Library!

Bertrand Library is dedicated to providing equal and equitable access to all Bucknell students, staff, faculty, and community members. We are constantly evaluating our policies and procedures to ensure that we are serving our community as best we can. In this guide, you will find information about the spaces within the library, the assistive technology and services we offer, the videos we've made to help students feel more comfortable using our services, and our connection to the Office of Accessibility Resources. If there is anywhere you feel we are lacking, or if you have a suggestion for us to make our library more welcoming to all, you can tell us in the Feedback tab.

Library & IT Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Division of Library and Information Technology at Bucknell University strives to provide an environment in which all members of the campus community feel welcome, supported, respected, and valued. We respect and support diversity in all of its forms, including identity, skill sets, backgrounds,  and experience. We strive to be inclusive by understanding and meeting the evolving needs of our diverse community.

  • We welcome each member of our community by providing space and a safe environment on campus where people can congregate and learn from each other and the past.
  • We support each member of our community by providing resources and services necessary for them to thrive.
  • We respect each member of our community by recognizing the unique perspectives and talents of every member of the Bucknell community.
  • We value each member of our community by promoting the contributions of all to the Bucknell experience.

We have a moral and professional obligation to share the responsibility of always treating each other with respect, even when we disagree. There are also practical benefits to a community in doing so, including generating rich ideas, and improving the world around us.
