We can...
Hi! My name is Nora Boyle, and I am the Sciences Librarian! I cover the life sciences, natural sciences, computer science, medicine, and animal behavior departments.
I spent most of my life in the Midwest, growing up near Chicago and then Indianapolis. I hold a B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in Forensic and Investigative Sciences from Purdue University, through Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), focusing on instrumental and analytical chemistry. After deciding that I'd rather help others with their research than do my own, I received my Master's in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, specializing in providing research services and instruction to STEM students. There, I rediscovered my personal research interests, investigating how and why STEM researchers and students search and cite sources the way they do. I'm also interested in open science initiatives, which work on making research outputs accessible to all.
Outside of work, I love to read fantasy and mystery novels, watch true crime documentaries, and enjoy anything related to performing- whether being on stage, playing music, or seeing local productions. When I get the chance, I love to travel and explore new places, including historical and unique sites, like the Louvre Museum in Paris, as seen below. I also have two dogs- Ollie (the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and Lola (the Mini Dachshund).
