This collection of manuscripts, ephemera, photos, video, and other archival material documents popular culture in Britain and America from 1950 – 1975. It is a great place to find primary sources relating to popular music – for example, articles published in the underground press, fanzines, and videos capturing Beatlemania.
Rock's Backpages
A library of American and British popular music journalism including features, album reviews, interviews, and more. In addition to articles published in popular magazines such as Rolling Stone and Creem, this collection includes articles from more obscure publications as well as audio interviews.

Rolling Stone All Access
Browse issues of the popular music magazine, Rolling Stone, from the 1960s to the present. Contact the Service Desk in Bertrand Library for password access to this database.

Performing Arts Database
A good place to begin research on topics relating to theatre, dance, film, opera (or even puppetry) is the IIPA, which offers access to citations, abstracts, and full text of articles from scholarly and professional journals, magazines, newspapers, and other publications. Limit by document type in the advanced search to find reviews of performances.
Sociological Abstracts
One of the most comprehensive databases in the social sciences, Sociological Abstracts includes coverage of fields including anthropology, economics, education, medicine, community development, philosophy, demography, political science, and social psychology. Includes abstracts of journal articles, conference papers, dissertations, books, and book reviews. A useful resource for research on the intersections between music and culture.

IPA Source
IPA Source was developed to benefit singers, teachers, and all those interested in the correct and knowledgeable performance of vocal literature. It is the largest collection of literal translations and International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcriptions on the web. The goal of IPA Source is to promote the comprehension and accurate pronunciation of foreign language texts in art song and opera in order that the singer may imbue each syllable with the appropriate emotional content. IPA Source offers texts to works for the solo voice in Latin, Italian, German, French, Spanish, and English.
