The site documents the history, cultural aspects and geological formations of areas that eventually became National Parks. This collection consists of approximately 200 maps dating from the 17th century to the present.
Data from several censuses and surveys including the decennial census, the American Community Survey, the American Housing Survey, and the Economic Census.
The goal of The National Map’s Historical Topographic Map Collection (HTMC) is to provide a digital repository of USGS 1:250,000 scale and larger maps printed between 1884, the inception of the topographic mapping program, and 2006.
