ENST 207: American Environmental History: Using Census Data

Using Census Data

Census Data

Census data is collected at specified intervals (usually a period of years). While we traditionally think of the Population Census as "Census data" there are many other topical areas for which a Census is produced, including manufacturing, agriculture, and the economy. Looking at census data can help you understand how your place has changed over times, in terms of demographic, economic, and even agricultural factors.

Please note: Navigating census data is a complex task, but can tell you a lot about how a place has changed over time. If you want to make use of census data in your place paper, please set up an appointment with Carrie to work on this one-on-one.
