Ebooks on Kindle Fire

Requirements

  • Get Adobe Digital Editions for PC/Mac (link on the right).
  • Get an Adobe ID (link on the right).
  • Get a compatible reading app (such as Aldiko, linked on the right) on your Kindle.
  • Authorize the reading app with your Adobe ID.

  • Show text instructions
    • An epub ebook has already been downloaded to the Desktop.

      1. Double-click the ebook to open it in Adobe Digital Editions.
      2. Click Library.
      3. Plug in your Kindle Fire.
      4. Unlock it, and make sure the message appears.
      5. Aldiko will appear in the device list.
      6. Drag and drop the ebook onto "Aldiko".
      7. Eject the Kindle Fire.
      8. Tap disconnect on the Kindle.
      9. Your ebook is ready for use.

Ebooks on Kindle Fire HD

Requirements

  • Get an Adobe ID (link on the right).
  • Get a compatible reading app (such as Aldiko, linked on the right) on your Kindle.
  • Authorize the reading app with your Adobe ID.

  • Show text instructions
    • An epub ebook has already been downloaded to the Desktop.

      1. Double-click the ebook to open it in Adobe Digital Editions.
      2. Plug in your Kindle Fire HD.
      3. Unlock it.
      4. Click Open device to view files.
      5. Navigate to the folder where you store ebooks.
      6. Drag and drop the ebook into that folder.
      7. Unplug the Kindle.
      8. Launch Aldiko on the Kindle.
      9. Tap Files.
      10. Navigate to the folder with the ebook.
      11. Tap the ebook.
      12. Tap Import.
      13. Your ebook is ready for use.

Ebrary ebooks

Download an entire Ebook:

  • Limit of 10 ebooks out at a time.
  • No printing.
  • Protected EPUB format 

Download selected pages:

  • Limit of 60 pages per day.
  • Can print.
  • Never expires.
  • PDF format 

Adobe



  • Show text instructions
    • First, download and install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE):

      1. Go to Adobe Digital Editions.
      2. Click Download now.
      3. Click Windows or Macintosh.
      4. Click Save File.
      5. Locate the saved file.
      6. Double-click it to run.
      7. Accept the License agreement.
      8. Accept all defaults and finish the installation.


      Second, create an Adobe ID and authorize your computer:

      1. With ADE open, click Help, then Authorize Computer.
      2. If you already have one, enter your Adobe ID; otherwise, click Create an Adobe ID.
      3. Enter the required information, then click Create.
      4. Back in ADE, enter your Adobe ID and click Authorize.
      5. Click OK.

Aldiko

  • Show text instructions
    • First, you must change a setting:

      1. Tap the setting icon in the menu bar at the top.
      2. Tap the + More... icon.
      3. Tap Device.
      4. Change Allow Installation of Applications to ON.

      Second, download and install Aldiko:

      1. From the Home screen, tap Web.
      2. Browse to aldiko.com.
      3. Tap Support.
      4. In the FAQ, tap Download the Latest Version (2.1.0) of the Aldiko Book Reader Application.
      5. Tap the link at the bottom for aldiko-standard-200160.apk.
      6. When the download completes, tap the notification bar.
      7. Tap the download.
      8. Tap Install.

    • Authorize Aldiko with your Adobe ID:
      1. When it finishes, tap Open.
      2. Tap the menu button.
      3. Tap Settings.
      4. Tap Adobe DRM.
      5. Enter your Adobe ID and tap Sign In.
      6. Tap the Home icon to close Aldiko.
