Ebooks on Android

Requirements

  • Get a compatible reading app (such as Aldiko, linked on the right) on your tablet.
  • Get an Adobe ID (link on the right).
  • Authorize the reading app with your Adobe ID.
  • Use the Chrome browser when searching.

Video Demonstration

  • Show text instructions
    • You can read Ebrary and other ebooks on your Android device.

      Aldiko needs to be installed on your Android device, and registered with your Adobe ID.

      1. Find an ebook, then tap Download.
      2. Tap the Notification Bar.
      3. Tap the epub file.
      4. Aldiko will launch and open the ebook.*


      * If Aldiko doesn't launch, follow these steps:

      1. Launch Aldiko on the Kindle.
      2. Tap Files.
      3. Navigate to the folder with the ebook.
      4. Tap the ebook.
      5. Tap Import.
      6. Your ebook is ready for use.

Aldiko

  • Show text instructions
    • Install Aldiko on your Android device:

      1. On your Android device, browse to Aldiko on Google Play.
      2. Tap Install.
      3. Tap Accept & Download.

    • Authorize Aldiko with your Adobe ID:
      1. When it finishes, tap Open.
      2. Tap the menu button.
      3. Tap Settings.
      4. Tap Adobe DRM.
      5. Enter your Adobe ID and tap Sign In.

Ebrary ebooks

Download an entire Ebook:

  • Limit of 10 ebooks out at a time.
  • No printing.
  • Protected EPUB format 

Download selected pages:

  • Limit of 60 pages per day.
  • Can print.
  • Never expires.
  • PDF format 

Adobe ID

  • Show text instructions

    • Create an Adobe ID and authorize your computer:

      1. With Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) open, click Help, then Authorize Computer.
      2. If you already have one, enter your Adobe ID; otherwise, click Create an Adobe ID.
      3. Enter the required information, then click Create.
      4. Back in ADE, enter your Adobe ID and click Authorize.
      5. Click OK.
