Interlibrary Loan: Using EZBorrow

Learn about what Interlibrary Loan is and how to use it

What is EZBorrow?

EZBorrow is a service Bertrand participates in that allows us to borrow physical interlibrary loans (such as books and DVD's) from libraries across the Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey area in only a few days. Whenever possible, we try to borrow through EZBorrow because of how fast and simple it is. You will know that a request you have placed was filled from EZBorrow if it has a pale blue band around it with the EZborrow logo, shown below.

Finding your EZBorrow requests

Unlike most interlibrary loan books, EZBorrow books are checked out through your library account, instead of your ILLiad account. This means that your "item available for checkout" notification will come from the Bertrand Library's email, and your EZBorrow books and their due dates will appear in your library account alongside any books you have checked out from Bertrand's collection. However, EZBorrow books cannot be renewed, so you will not see the normal option to renew your loan. You can access your library account anytime on the Bertrand Library website by clicking on the "My Library Account" button in the top right corner.

Your request will still appear in your ILLiad account history, but you won't be able to see the due date, track the request's progress, or cancel the request. Once the request is forwarded to EZBorrow, the status in ILLiad will change to "Request Finished" and it will move off of the homepage, even if the request is still active in EZBorrow.

As always, if you have any questions about an interlibrary loan item, please email illdept@bucknell.edu. Please do not reply to your hold pickup notice, as the email address it comes from only sends automated notices and cannot receive mail.
