First-year Personal Librarians: McDonnell Hall (Floors 3 & 4)

Personal Librarian for McDonnell Hall Floors 3 & 4

What can your First-year Personal Librarian do for you?

  • Keep you informed with periodic e-mail messages highlighting resources and programs
  • Assist you with your research assignments by helping you identify the best sources and formulate search strategies
  • Answer your questions about library services and resources
  • Connect you with librarians across all subject areas
  • Support you even when you’re not on campus—for example if you’re on break
  • Help you when you don’t know where to start, or can’t think of what to do next!

Your First-year Personal Librarian is Ally Wood.

In addition to being your First Year Personal Librarian, Ally is the subject librarian for the College of Engineering and many of the science departments.

Ally has an M.S. in Information Science from the University at Albany and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Allegheny College. She has experience tracking down both invasive fish and hard-to-find information.

In her free time, Ally loves reading science fiction books, trying out new vegetarian recipes, and playing video games on easy mode.  She also likes visiting aquariums and learning about freshwater and marine ecology. Connect with Ally if you have any questions about navigating library resources!
