  • Assist you with your research assignments by helping you identify the best sources and formulate search strategies
  • Answer your questions about library services and resources
  • Connect you with librarians across all subject areas
  • Support you even when you’re not on campus—for example if you’re on break
  • Help you when you don’t know where to start, or can’t think of what to do next!

Your First-year Personal Librarian is Ben Hoover.

Ben is the Research Services specialist for News and Newspapers, Government Documents, and Reference. He also plans outreach and orientation events for the Bertrand Library. Ben is excited to help you navigate the library resources you need during your first semester and beyond!

A native of north central Pennsylvania, Ben attended Bucknell as an undergraduate student, majoring in mathematics and economics. After a brief stint working for the federal government, he returned to Bucknell where he earned his M.S.Ed. with a focus in college student personnel.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and CrossFit.
